Case Study: Vacuum Suction Cup Handling with an Industrial Manipulator
Share
HB Torque's application portfolio includes suction-cup robotic arm and vacuum-assisted handling cases for industrial material transfer and positioning.
Application overview
Vacuum handling can be considered when a workpiece has suitable surfaces for suction and the process requires assisted lifting, transfer or positioning without relying on conventional mechanical gripping points.
The handling challenge
The correct vacuum end-effector depends on the workpiece surface, geometry, weight, pickup orientation and movement path. Surface condition and available suction area need to be reviewed during application engineering.
Solution approach
HB Torque can configure an industrial manipulator with a purpose-designed vacuum end-effector around the actual workpiece and workstation. The manipulator structure and suction arrangement are selected from the required load, reach, lifting height and orientation.
Engineering inputs
Provide workpiece weight, dimensions, surface material and condition, available suction area, pickup and placement orientation, lifting height, working radius and workstation photos or drawings.
